Planning Commission Public Hearing Notice - August 24, 2024

 

White Salmon has drafted amendments to their Heritage Tree Ordinance, transitioning it into a distinct Tree Protection Ordinance. These changes include targeted incentives to preserve mature trees, reflecting the goals outlined in the City’s Community Forest Management Plan and incorporating feedback from the community, the City Tree Board, and the Planning Commission.

Stay tuned for a graphic flyer that will showcase a dynamic table illustrating the key differences between the current and proposed tree codes! This addition will be featured in the Planning Commission packet, offering a comparison of the upcoming changes.

 

White Salmon has prepared a draft ordinance amending Title 18 By Revising Chapter 18.40, To Update the Heritage Trees Ordinance, including Chapter 17.72 Off Street Parking and Chapter 13.01.050 Stormwater Runoff Control Standards.

 

Proposed amendments to the City’s Tree Code are available for review at: https://www.whitesalmonwa.gov/planning/page/heritage-tree-ordinance-update.

A public hearing, with a virtual/telephonic attendance option, will be held during the Planning Commission meeting on Wednesday, August 28, at 5:30 PM or as soon thereafter as possible.

Any individual who wishes to testify in writting, person or via teleconference will be allowed to do so. Comments may be emailed to erikac@whitesalmonwa.gov. The hearing will be in the City Council Chambers, 119 NE Church.
