The City of White Salmon will celebrate Arbor Day on Saturday, March 20, 2021. The City of White Salmon will be giving away a tree seedling and free bag of bark mulch for each family, while supplies last. Trees and mulch will be available on a first come, first served basis beginning at 9:00 a.m. in Rheingarten Park at the picnic pavilion in the SE corner of the park. Please practice COVID safety protocols when visiting the park to pick u p a tree. Tree seedling species include Vine maple and Ponderosa Pine. More information on each tree species can be found on the city's website.
Trees are assets to a community when properly planted and maintained. They help to improve the visual appeal of a neighborhood, increase property values, reduce home cooling costs, remove air pollutants and provide wildlife habitat, among many other benefits.
The City encourages everyone to plant, or care for, a tree on their property in celebration of Arbor Day 2021 and to get outside and appreciate the wonderful trees in our community. We celebrate 4 years as a Tree City USA, and look forward to celebrating the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day in 2022.
