PRESS RELEASE: Jewett Manhole Improvement Project

PRESS RELEASE:
Jewett Manhole Improvement Project

The City of White Salmon plans to begin a wastewater manhole improvement project on Monday, February 26, 2024. The purpose of this work is to rehabilitate selected manholes for improved accessibility and longer service life of these structures.  The Contractor (Slateco Construction) will be installing a new manhole concrete cone and liner in six manholes on Jewett Blvd in the downtown area and on SE 5th Ave; replacing the manhole lid castings at 13 manholes (approximately NE Wauna Ave to Ingram Place); restoring asphalt concrete pavement; and completing other miscellaneous work.

The work is scheduled to be conducted in three phases located along the Jewett Boulevard from NW Garfield Avenue to SE 5th Ave and in two phases from SE 5th Ave to Ingram Place over the course of five weeks. This schedule may change due to adverse weather conditions. Temporary traffic control will be established creating sections of no parking, lane shifts, and the use of flaggers to direct traffic. The duration of temporary traffic control changes at each manhole is anticipated to be from two to eight hours.

The City of White Salmon will be working with Slateco Construction to minimize impacts to its citizens but requests patience during the construction of these improvements.
